When selecting a new leash the length should be roughly the same, or a bit shorter than your board, so if you surf a 7'4" mini mal go for a 7' leash. Which ever type of leash you use always make sure to regulary check it for damage and fin cuts, loosing your board and having to swim back in through large surf isn't much fun!
